KATHMANDU: A driver’s assistant died after the vehicle carrying water that he was travelling on overturned sideways in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-5 of Makawanpur district, on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Das (19) of Kanchanpur Municipality-9 in Saptari.

According to police, the incident occurred when the tanker (Na 1 Kha 8799) overturned at the roadside due to brake failure and crushed Das under it. Das was killed on the spot.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the water tanker and detained its driver for further investigation.
