Dry landslip threat in Ramechhap village

As winter approaches, cracks start developing in the soil posing a threat of landslip to the local settlement at Bhadaure of Khadadevi Rural Municipality-8 in Ramechhap, every year.
The locals have been facing the problem for over five decades now. This year, they have sought government support to address the problem. As many as 32 households from the locality are facing displacement due to possible landslips.
“When the temperature goes down, cracks develop in the soil and landslips occur. The locals have been facing the problem for the past five decades,” said District Coordination Committee, Ramechhap, Chairperson Prem Bahadur Khadka.
Due to dry landslides in the past, scores of households have deserted the place and more than 100 ropani cultivable land has been affected, according to victims. “We are facing uncertainty about our settlement due to the problem. We prayed to the serpent god for years, but in vain. Our faith in the god has also started waning,” said Chudaraj Tamang, a local.
“Hence, we have urged the district coordination committee and the district soil conservation office to take necessary initiatives to address our problem,” said Tamang.
