Dudejhari fallout: Maoists shut govt offices in Kailali

DHANGADHI: The cadres of the UCPN-Maoist, who have been protesting against the Dudejhari incident, shut the government offices in Kailali district indefinitely beginning today.

Participants of a rally enforced the closure of all government offices located at Dhangadhi and Tikapur area. The agitators also warned of physical action if staffers performed any official jobs. A staffer at District Administration Office Kailali said, '' We are not doing office work due to security reason.''

Hundreds of service seekers returned bare handed due to the closure. Janga Bahadur Sarki, a local of Urma-6 said, "I could not get citizenship of my daughter-in-law issued as the office was closed.'' While Khante Saud of Musiriya -2, who had reached the DAO to collect allowance of her mother, returned bare hand. He lamented, "It is difficult to bring my old mother here time and again.'' Meanwhile, the Maoists also warned not to use government vehicles in the district. District in- charge of the party, Akhanda claimed that the party cadres had taken hold of vehicles of irrigation and road division offices in Masuriya. He added, "We will not allow vehicles with Indian registration number too.''
