Early implementation of agro-policy sought

Kathmandu, February 4:

Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Ganesh Kumar KC today directed officials to implement the Agriculture Business Promotion Policy 2006 immediately.

“The policy had incorporated plans, which could be fully implemented,” KC said, addressing a discussion programme on Agriculture Business Promotion Policy 2006. The Agricultural Business Promotion and Statistics Division of the MoAC had organised the programme.

“The practice of delaying the implementation of plans and policies should be done away with,” he said Joint-secretary at the ministry, Bhairav Raj Kaini, said, “Discussions should be held on the policy at all departments under the agriculture ministry.”

Executive director of the Agriculture Enterprises Centre under the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Dr Dev Bhakta Shakya, said the policy should also take into account local taxes being charged haphazardly in the country.
