Educational materials lost to floods

More than 1,000 students have lost their educational materials after floodwaters from different rivers and rivulets gushed into schools and houses in Jhapa district.
Assistant District Education Officer at District Education Office, Jhapa, Uddab Bista said they had been collecting details of such losses along with the names of students from flood-hit schools. “We are preparing to manage textbooks for them in schools,” he said. He added that teaching-learning activities had been affected after students lost their educational materials to the floods. Bista said his office had inspected 56 schools in flood-hit areas of the district, recently.
He said 600 students from 15 most affected schools hailed from Jhapa Rural Municipality. The DEO said the 15 schools include Saraswati Elementary School in Mechinagar, Dipini High School in Damak and Shanti Foundation School in Duwagadi, among other schools.
