Eight children rescued from traffickers' clutch

MAHOTTARI: Police rescued eight children being taken to India illegally and arrested a middleman involved in trafficking them from Maliwara in Mahottari on Wednesday.

A patrol team from the District Police Office rescued Samerajul Ansari, Jubaid Nadaf, Saphik Ansari, Kalam Ansari, Ilfan Ansari and Anawar Ansari from Hatisarwa VDC-5 in Mahottari and Haribul Ansari and Jilani Akhtar from Ramadaiya-9 in Dhanusa.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Lokendra Shrestha said that the middleman Nadim Ansari was trafficking the children aged 9 to 12 with a promise to provide them jobs in an embroidery factory in Jaipur, India.

Meanwhile, the rescued children have been handed over to their families, police said, adding that the suspected trafficker Nadim has been taken into custody and an investigation has been initiated in this connection.
