Elderly couple murdered in Baglung

An unidentified group murdered an elderly couple with sharp weapons at Kuhinebato of Dhorpatan Municipality, Baglung, last night.

Police said that Bhum Bahadur BK, 61 and Bima BK, 60, of the municipality were killed when they were sleeping in a shed near their house. Locals informed police when they found Bhum Bahadur dead near the shed in the field. Bima’s body was found inside the shed.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jhabindra Bhattarai at Baglung District Police Office said that a police team from Dhorpatan and Burtibang police posts has been deployed to the incident site. Police said the bodies were being brought to Burtibang for post-mortem.

The incident site is six hours walking distance from Burtibang. The police team reached the incident site today at 1:00pm. DSP Bhattarai said that an axe was used to kill the couple. He added that the couple received deep cuts in their heads.

The reason behind the murder is yet to be established, said police. Police said that the elderly couple was living separately from their son and daughter-in law.

Further investigation into the incident is under way, said police.
