An elderly man was arrested on the charge of raping his granddaughter at Simaltar of Hetauda sub-metropolitan city in Makawanpur on Thursday. He has been accused of raping his 11-year-old granddaughter at home.

He was held on Thursday though the incident took place on July 26, as the complaint was filed late, said Makawanpur police spokesperson DSP Shishu Sharma.

“Investigation into the incident is under way,” said DSP Sharma. Five cases of rape and attempt to rape have been registered in the past three weeks in the district, as per the DPO. Of them, four cases are related to the minors.
