Elderly person killed in Parbat landslide
POKHARA: An elderly man died after he was buried in a landslide in Kushma Municipality-2 of Parbat district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as seventy-year-old Rem Bahadur Chalise, local resident of Khurkot Budhiswanra.
According to Parbat District Police Office (DPO), a rain-triggered landslide buried the house belonging to Chalise, yesterday. Chalise was sleeping when the landslide debris from above buried the house.
Chief of the DPO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyamu Aryal informed that the house was dwelt in by Chalise couple. He said the wife of the deceased was not at home the day the landslide occurred. She was visiting her daughter's home.
Few parts of the house were swept while other parts buried under piles of landslide debris. Meanwhile, an investigation into the natural disaster is underway, police informed.
Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Prithvi Subba Gurung today expressed his sorrow at the news of the elderly person's death in disaster.
