Entrepreneurs’ strike called off in Janakpur

JANAKPURDHAM: The ongoing fast-unto-death launched by representatives of Janakpur Chambers of Commerce ended on Sunday.

They had launched the agitation five days ago demanding regular supply of electricity and control of mosquito menace in Dhanusha. Jitendra Prasad Sah, general secretary of the federation, said they withdrew their protest after signing agreements with Janakpur sub-metropolitan city and Nepal Electricity Authority today.

As per the agreement, supply of power will be managed from 132 KV connection at Dhalkebar grid by increasing power voltage imported from India from first week of July.

Another signed an agreement on maintaining sanitation on the road drainage, proper management of waste, regular use of insecticides, raising awareness among people about waste disposal and developing the city as a plastic bag free zone, among others.
