Ex-minister’s land to be auctioned

The Itaruwa branch of the Rastriya Banijya Bank has decided to auction the land of former home minister and King’s advisor, Dil Bahadur Shrestha.
The bank decided to put the 10 bigaha land at Inaruwa-1 on sale after its frequent notice to pay back the loan went unheard. The Itaruwa branch will write to the Bank’s regional office in Biratnagar tomorrow to act in line with the decision.
Shrestha borrowed Rs 1.3 million as agriculture loan from the bank in August, 1998 for horticulture.
The bank is going to auction different plots for not paying the loan. The plots included 16 Kaththa, 4 Dhur of plot no 56; 2 bigha 4 Katha and 18 Dhur of plot no 58; 1 bigha, 8 Katha and 9 Dhur of plot no 59; 2 bigha, 18 Katha and 5 Dhur of plot no 60 and 2 bighas, 4 Kaththa and 6 Dhur of plot no 13.
Public notices were issued several times but Shrestha did not respond to the summons.
“The decision to auction the land was taken after Shrestha did not pay attention to the notices,” said an employee of the bank. The bank took the decision as per the recommendation of the evaluation committee on April 26, it said.
