Examinee SLC lucky on 12th bid

Dang, September 18:

It is a celebration time for Bhim Bahadur Malla for he finally passed the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam in 12th attempt.

Malla, a resident of Khawang-8 of Pyuthan district, passed the examination after the 12th attempt, including this year’s SLC supplementary examination.

A helper at Ghorahi-based Nepal Telecom Office, Malla sat for the SLC exam for the first

time in 1996.

“Though I appeared in SLC exam many times, I laboured hard this time and finally passed it,” an elated Malla said.

“I never lost hope despite failing time and again,” he said. “The success is the reward of my continuous hard work and labour,” he said.

When asked if he cheated in the exam, Malla said, “This is against my way of life.”

“Sometimes my wife, mother and villagers used to make fun of me for failing in SLC. However, I never gave up by effort,” Malla said.

Pleased with my success, congratulations have been pouring in, he said. “Since I am a helper at the state-owned office, I hope the latest qualification will help me get a promotion,” he said.

“I have no plan to discontinue study. I will pursue higher studies and continue the job together,” he added.
