RUKUM: A new mother died while undergoing treatment at Chaurjahari Hospital in Rukum district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Sushila Bista (28) of Chaurjahari Municipality-12.

Bista, who was expecting her fifth child, was brought to the hospital by her kin on Thursday.

Dr Suman Rai said, "She was suffering from excessive bleeding and vomiting at the time."

Rai further added that during the check-up, it was found that her child had already died in the womb due to inhalation of meconium, which is the earliest stool of a mammalian infant.

Bista breathed her last while the doctor was preparing for caesarean-section surgery.
