Fear of being swept away displaces families in Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha

BHOJPUR: With the increasing risk of landslides due to continuous rainfall for seven days in Bhojpur district, two households in Saunedanda of Gupteshwar, Bhojpur Municipality-3 have been displaced.

The families are currently being provided safe shelter in their neighbour's home until the condition is normalised. The families left their homes after the landslide on July 11 created a crack on the ground near their houses.

Raj Kumar Rai, a member of one of the families that was displaced because of the landslide, shared that they had shifted after the ground had cracked, in fear of being swept away.

"We are working to provide relief materials to the victims. We are also alerting the households who are living in risky areas," shared Kailash Kumar Ale, mayor of the municipality.

Likewise, locals of the neighbouring Sankhuwasabha district are also dealing with the same risks. Bir Bahadur Rai and his family in Panchkhapan Municipality-1 have been displaced from their homes due to the risk of being swept away by a landslide.
