FSF-N leader defends move to join polls

Rautahat, June 16

Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal General Secretary Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav has clarified  that his party’s decision to join the election process has no ulterior motive.

Speaking at a programme in Rautahat district headquarters Gaur, the FSF-N leader denied that his party had ditched Madhes. “No matter how much we cry foul, election is an imperative and the mainstay of democracy. Accepting this reality, we simply thought of using election as a means to fight for the cause of Madhes,” he argued.

On a slightly different note, the Madhes-based leader described the government’s decision to put off the local level elections in few selected districts of Province 2 as a grave mistake. “What is the government intimating by putting off polls in eight districts of Province 2?” he asked. “Such an act would only fan secessionist sentiments, which would be detrimental to national unity.”

The FSF-N leader also criticised the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal for obstructing its activities. “We’ve joined the election for the sake of Madhes. We will retaliate against anyone who obstructs the polls,” he warned.
