BIRGUNJ: Property worth around Rs 2 lakhs was gutted when two houses in Baharwa of Vata VDC-1, Birgunj caught fire on Tuesday morning.

According to Inspector of Armed Police Force Hem Raj GC the houses belonged to Chaudhary Raut Barai and his brother Prem Raut Barai. A fire brigade from Birgunj sub-metropolitan city along with local volunteers and security personnel were able to douse the fire after battling it for around two hours.

The police informed that the fire started when the occupants lit a fire to warm themselves.
