Birgunj, December 9:

Police today arrested five persons while they were wielding illegal weapons in Parsa’s Lakhanpur Village Development Committee.

A team led by DSP Masauda Alam of District Police Office nabbed the five with improvised weapons from Darwa village.

Those arrested have been identified as Mohichanda Raut, Rambhu Shaha Kanu and Malakh Raut of Darwa village, Lakhanpur VDC-1, Khedu Majhi and Ram Bahadur Raut of Lakhanpur VDC-9. Police have recovered one country-made pistol, eight rounds of bullet and one bomb from them.

All of the arrested claimed that they were guarding the paddy field to protect. According to them, people guard the paddy field during harvesting season.

According to police inspector KP Sharma, none of them was of criminal background on the basis of the preliminary investigation. The arrested persons have been kept in Parsa district police office for further investigation.
