Five members of two families ill after consumption of wild mushrooms
NUWAKOT: Five persons of two families were taken ill after consuming wild mushrooms in Meghang-3 of Nuwakot district on Thursday night.
The members of a family who were taken ill have been identified as Bir Bahadur Tamang, his wife Sumitra Tamang and his son Kamal Tamang. Another family members who were taken ill are Sukumaya Tamang and her granddaughter Chandani Tamang.
All of them were taken ill after they consumed the curry prepared from the mushrooms they had brought from a jungle, said the Assistant Sub-Inspector Dhananjaya Mishra at the Deurali Police Post.
Among the persons taken ill, Tamang couple and the woman from other family are said to be critical.
They were admitted to the Trishuli District Hospital from where they were referred to the Kathmandu-based Green City Hospital this morning.
The patients had symptoms including headache, vomiting and falling unconscious soon after they had consumed the mushroom curry, police said.
