Five youths arrested for attacking NA personnel in Banke

NEPALGUNJ: As many as five persons have been arrested for attacking Nepal Army personnel with Khukuri during a fair in Baijanath Rural Municipality-2 of Banke district on Sunday.

According to police, the clash erupted at the Purnima Fair at Shiva temple area after Dhurbu Rokaya reportedly teased a girl in the fair.

A team of police under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hem Bahadur Shahi at Area Police Office, Kohalpur, successfully apprehended five hooligans who were hiding in various locations within few hours of the incident. The arrrestes have been identified as Bishnu Rokaya, Suresh Rana Chhetri, Puskar Rana Chhhetri, Dil Bahadur Rana Chhetri and Yam Bahadur Rana (Biru) of the Makaibari village in the rural municipality, informed DSP Shahi.

According to DSP Shahi, Nepal Army Personnel Lokendra Shahi stationed at Shree Dal Gulm, Mugu was seriously injured in the incident. Injured Shahi is being treated in a health facility in Lucknow, India, he added.

Police has expedited the search to catch three more people — Teju Rokaya, Bishwo Rokaya and Durbu Rokaya — involved in the incident who are on the run.

Meanwhile, detailed investigation into the case is underway, informed Kohalpur Police.
