Flood sweeps away four houses; 30 families at risk

Ramechhap, September 10:

A flash flood in the Milti River flowing between Ramechhap and Dolakha districts last night swept away four houses and has endangered 30 other families of Milti Bazaar, Fulashi VDC-1, of Ramechhap, on the riverbank. Milti Bazaar was established 10 years ago during the time of the construction of the Kathmandu-Manthali road. The Pushpalal road section on Araniko highway too is facing danger of landslides.

Forty-three-year-old business Arjun Thapa, who had been living for a decade without a care for floods or landslide said that the flood last night swept away his home along with all his belongings in a matter of minutes. Thapa, who reached the district headquarters, Manthali, today to seek relief, said he had lost property worth Rs three lakh and that the houses of Dharma Tamang, Nani Kazi Khadka and Krishna Tamang had also been swept away.
