Floods damage Chandranahar dam in Saptari

SAPTARI: The dam of Chandranahar, one of the major irrigation canals in the country, has been damaged by floods in Mohuli and Sundari Rivers of Saptari district recently.

The floods triggered by incessant rainfall from few days have damaged about 85 meters of the Chandranahar dam. There was a loss of more than Rs 15 million due to the damage, said Chandranahar Irrigation Division chief Prasun Mishra.

The floods have also inundated the canal with sand deposit.

The Division is working to find out the exact detail of the loss incurred, chief Mishra further said.
