FNJ to boycott programmes of govt officials

Kathmandu, June 20:

The second meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists which concluded in Bharatpur, Chitwan, yesterday decided to boycott all functions attended by the ministers, regional and zonal administrators and those nominated by the government till the second week of July.

A press statement issued today by the FNJ has also decided to boycott Vice Chairman Dr Tulsi Giri’s public functions and blackout his news, statements and not to invite him as a guest in

any function and receive any prizes or awards from him to protest against his role which goes against the freedom of the press. The meeting has appealed to the private media not to carry Minister for Information and Communications Tanka Dhakal’s photograph in the media till the second week of July. The FNJ meet concluded that Minister Dhakal is hell-bent on imposing economic blockade on the private media. The meeting constituted 15 committees to effectively carry out the FNJ’s activities.
