Food crisis hits Chepangs

DHADING: One hundred and forty households of Chepang community residing in four villages in southern parts of Dhading district have been hit hard by food crisis. Chepangs of Dudwang, Bhalingtar, Yawarng and Jiwarng villages of Dhusa VDC are suffering from food crisis, the locals said. Chepangs say they are suffering from the food crisis as their crops, including maize, had been damaged by hailstorm this year. They said they had to live off wild roots and fruits for their survival.

Chepangs are badly affected due to the crisis, as the entire villages are suffering from it. "We face such food crisis every year as our agriculture produce does not even last for three months," Bhim Bahadur Chepang, a local said.
