Dhangadhi, February 19:

Supply of foodstuff to Bajhang district has halted since a week after the Khodpe-Bajhang road section was obstructed due to heavy snowfall in the region on January 13.

As many as 25 cargo trucks headed for Bajhang are stuck at Dhangadhi.

A shortage of daily use items and foodstuff is also being felt in Chainpur of Bajhang as vehicular movement on the Dudhlakhan-Shreebhawar road along the Khodpe-Bajhang road section has halted since a week due to accumulated snow on the road, a local Dinesh Bhandari said.

“There still is about two feet of snow on the Dudhlakhan-Shreebhawar road. Cargo trucks are unable to reach Bajhang. Consequently, shortage of food has gripped the district headquarters Chainpur and nearby rural areas,” Bhandari said.

Proprietor of Bajhang Supply Service, Jeewan Bhandari accused the Roads Division of not taking initiative to clear the roads. Local businessmen themselves supply food grains in Bajhang.

The Roads Division could not be contacted for comment.
