Forest ranger injured in Udayapur wildfire

GAIGHAT: A forest ranger has been injured in a wildfire that erupted in southern parts of Udayapur district.

According to Information Officer Jaageshor Sah at District Forest Sub-Division Office, Udayapur, ranger Manpur Rajadhami was injured in his right eye while he was attempting to control the wildfire with the locals.

Injured Rajadhami has been undergoing treatment at a health facility in Gaighat.

Wildfire has been occurring every year in Udayapur, damaging various community and national forests.

“Various community forests have been damaged in the forest fire this year as well,” said information Officer Sah, while adding that collective efforts of forest officers, police personnel and locals have contributed in bringing such fire under control.

The forest office and locals have been attempting to douse the wildfire that has been spreading for a few days in the Chure region.

According to Sah, the wildfire usually occurred when somebody carelessly started a fire in the forest area.
