KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 12

Former minister of Gandaki Province, Deepak Manange, has been arrested today.

It has been learnt that he was arrested by a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) from Comfort Housing in the Sano Bharyang area of Kathmandu this morning.

Manange's arrest follows the Supreme Court's November 5 ruling that convicted him of attempted murder, upholding the 2012 five-year prison sentence issued by the then Appellate Court Patan (now High Court). The bench, comprising Justices Dr. Nahakul Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana reaffirmed the conviction, prompting an arrest warrant.

The case involves Manange's assault on Chakre Milan. He had previously served some prison time related to this case and will now be presented to the court for processing.
