Former lawmaker faces public offence charge in Bajura
BAJURA: Police in Bajura district registered a public offence case against Dabal Shah, former Constituent Assembly member and district in-charge of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist, Bajura district chapter, on Sunday.
Shah is accused of assaulting and smearing soot on the face of Local Development Officer, Yuvaraj Paudel, DSP Shyam Prasad Pandey of the District Police Office said.
Along with Shah, a local cadre Madhu Bilas Rawat was also charged with the same. Both of them were arrested from Bahundannda of Kuldevmandu VDC on Sunday, the DPO added.
According to Chief District Officer, Dhan Prasad Sharma, suspects were given a remand of five days for further investigations. Actions will be taken if they are found guilty, Sharma added.
Meanwhile, the accused Shah said he would not hesitate to go behind the bars but corrupt ones must get punished.
Om Prakash Pun, party's in-charge of the Far-West region, however, warned that the party would go for sterner protests if they were not released by tomorrow.
