Pokhara University lays foundations for a hospital

POKHARA:  The vice-chancellor of Pokhara University Chiranjibi Prasad Sharma on Thursday laid the foundation stone of a hospital that was proposed by the university a decade ago.

The university has allocated Rs 50 million in the initial phase to construct a hospital with a capacity of 150 beds, Registrar Gobinda Sharma Poudel said.

However, no PU official has any idea on budget and time allocation for completion of the project, despite the University Grants Commission and Nepal government providing financial assistance.

The university hustled for long to acquire lands in other areas but was compelled to lay the foundation of the hospital in its vicinity after other proposed sites were rendered infeasible by authorities.

At present, without university hospital, practical examinations of paramedical courses are taken in other medical facilities at expensive charges and tedious arrangements, Registrar Sharma added.
