Kavre, January 21

District Police Office, Kavre arrested a group of criminals for selling fake gold and made them public at a press meet organised at DPO, Kavre today.

Police arrested four persons of different districts after a 23-day long investigation.

The group had duped gold entrepreneur Jiban BK of Dhading by selling the fake yellow metal to him at Rs 32 lakh.

The arrested have been identified as Netra Prasad Duwadi aka Shiva, a permanent residentof Dhola VDC, Dhading, who was currently living in Pokhara; Harishankar Tamang aka Shiva Shankar Gurung of Pokhara,

Netra Bhandur Bhandari of Itahari, Sunsari; and Dil Bahadur Thapa aka Dillip of Kholagaun, Sindhuli.

The group had sold 1009.17 gram of fake gold to BK of Gajuri, Dhading at Rs 32 lakh and fled the scene.

They had even managed to produce the original bill of the yellow metal in Dhulikhel, Kavre, on December 29.

SP Rajesh Nath Bastola of DPO, Kavre, said BK had reached Dhulikhel as the swindlers had lured him into buying gold at a cheaper rate.

It has also been revealed after the investigation that the group had been planning the scam for two weeks.

Meanwhile, BK filed a case after he knew that he had been duped by the group at District Police Office, Kavre, on the same day.

Police then arrested Duwadi from Dhulikhel on the same day.
