Four burnt to death, six injured in inferno

Mugu, December 24

At least four construction workers were burnt to death while six others suffered injury when a house they were staying in caught fire abruptly at Pipalang, in Shreemastha VDC of Humla yesterday night.

The deceased have been identified as Jay Bahadur Mijar, 35, Naya Sunar, 40, Man Bahadur BK, 25, and Jagat Sunar, 28, of Lalu VDC of Kalikot.

The injured are: Jas Bahadur Sunar, Govinda Sunar, Lok Bahadur Sunar, Ramesh Sarki, Log Sunar and one more Govinda Sunar of the locality.

All the injured have been airlifted to Kathmandu after minor treatment at the local health facility.

The bodies have been sent to Kalikot, said police. Workers on the rural road along Salisalla-Darma had been staying in a temporary shanty.

The straw roofed shanty had suddenly caught fire while they were asleep. “Investigation into the incident is on,” said police.
