Four districts all set for tomorrow’s by-election

Preparations for by-election slated for November 30 have been completed in Kaski, Sunsari, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha districts.
The by-election was scheduled for the seat of House of Representatives at Kaski Constituency 2. Necessary materials have reached all voting centres and booths. Eighty-two voting centres have been fixed under 32 voting booths of 11 wards at Kaski Constituency 2.
Kaski Election Officer Mahendra Subedi said necessary materials had reached all the voting centres. District Election Office has deployed at least five staffers, including one voting officer, one assistant voting officer and three other employees, to each of the voting centres.
Pokhara Metropolitan City has decided to give public holiday to 29 schools where voting centres have been fixed from November 28 to 30.
In Sunsari, preparations for mayoral and ward chair’s by-election have been completed. Chief Election Officer Radha Krishna Upreti said employees were deployed to the voting centres after they were trained.
Dharan Sub-metropolitan City has 99 voting centres. Nine employees have been mobilised to each of the voting centres. Twenty three candidates, including 13 independents, are vying for the post of mayor. The mayor’s seat fell vacant with the demise of then Mayor Tara Subba.
Four candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for the post of chair at ward-7.
District Election Office, Bhojpur, said it had sent staffers with necessary materials required for holding the by-election to the voting booths and centres. The by-election is taking place for the post of chair at Ward No 1 in Pauwadungma Rural Municipality, Bhojpur. There are 1,616 voters casting their ballots in the ward. The seat of ward chair fell vacant after the then chair died of pneumonia.
Likewise, necessary staffers have been sent to Sankhuwasabha’s Makalu Rural Municipality. Voting booths have been fixed at Panchpokhari Basic School, Nibhare and Setikanya Lower Secondary School, Karmang. Election materials have been sent to 10 voting booths and 13 voting centres. As many as 74 staffers are mobilised for the by-poll.
Makalu Rural Municipality has 9,001 voters while Khandbari Municipality-3 has 1,830 voters. By-election for the post of rural municipality chief will be held at Makalu Rural Municipality while the poll for ward chair is being held at Khandbari-3.
Sankhuwasabha CDO Jivan Prasad Dulal said 300 security personnel were mobilised for by-election in the district.
