Four held for honey-trapping trader

Police in Jhapa have arrested four persons involved in blackmailing a trader after honey-trapping him.
The four, namely Meraj Khan, 29, Ritu Fiyak Limbu, 20, and Prakash Das of Birtamod and Sujan Shankar of Darjeeling, West Bengal, India, were made public at Birtamod Area Police Office today.
They are said to have been involved in approaching men on social sites and honey-trapping them.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahendra Kumar Shrestha at District Police Office, Jhapa, the three men had used Ritu to honey-trap a trader of Birtamod lately.
On July 13, Ritu had phoned the trader using a fake name. When he came to meet Ritu as per her invitation, the men had made a video of the two in compromising situation and beaten the trader and asked him to pay five million rupees, according to sources.
They had released the trader on Sunday after reaching agreement with him that the latter would give them four million rupees.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shrestha, the four persons were arrested from Charali on Sunday itself on the basis of the victim’s complaint.
Of those arrested, Sujan was identified as the one involved in forcing two women into sexual activities and human trafficking two years back. He had been slapped 10 years in prison over the same case two years back.
Police have said they are investigating into the case.
