Four houses reduced to ashes

At least four houses were reduced to ashes after a wildfire in nearby forests spread to human settlements at ward number 3 and 4 of Ramechhap on Saturday.

Inspector Makhhan Bahadur Yadav at District Police Office, Ramechhap said houses belonging to locals Tuk Bahadur Sunuwar, Som Bahadur Sunuwar, Harka Bahadur Sunuwar and Ram Bahadur Sunuwar were destroyed in the fire.

The wildfire has also spread to Sahayatri Jadibuti Community Forest of Tokarpur VDC and Budhikhoriya Community Forest of Chisapani in Manthali Municipality. More than 400 hectares of forest in Tokarpur VDC was destroyed by the wildfire that started two days ago.

Meanwhile, DSP Mohan Pariyar at the District Police Office, Ramechhap said police personnel along with locals have been trying to bring the fire under control.

Similarly, the wildfire that spread in Budhikhoriya Community forest destroyed more than four hectares of forest in Manthali Municipality. It is said that the wildfire has also spread to forests in Gunshi, Preety, among other VDCs of the district.
