Four deaths reported in assorted mishaps

KATHMANDU: Casualties have been reported in assorted mishaps in Banke, Nawalparasi and Jhapa districts in the past 24 hours, police said.

Two persons were killed in Banke when a motorcycle met with an accident at Deuralidanda of Chisapani, Banke along the Surkhet-Kohalpur road-section this morning.

Critically injured in the incident, biker and pillion rider, identified as Lok Bahadur Pun (32) of Bardiya, and Mohan Rawat (21) were rushed to the Kohalpur Medical College, where they died during the course of treatment.

Likewise, a pedestrian died after being hit by a motorcycle in Mauratari, Bardaghat along the highway in Nawalparasi yesterday evening.

The 21-year-old victim, identified as Bikram Pangeni of Bardaghat, was taken to the district hospital where he breathed his last.

Biker Yoglala Kunwar was critically injured in the incident. He was taken to neighbouring Chitwan for further treatment, police said.

In another accident in Rajgadh-3 of Jhapa, driver Alam Sheikh was killed on the spot after the tractor that he was driving turned turtle yesterday evening.

The 35-year-old victim was a resident of Taghamdubba-4 of the district, according to police.
