Another tremor, not aftershock of April 25 earthquake, hits Baglung this evening
KATHMANDU: Another fresh earthquake occurred in Baglung district on Tuesday evening.
The National Seismological Centre recorded a light tremor of local magnitude 4.2 in the district of western Nepal at 9:06 pm.
The epicentre lies outside the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, in between the Dhorpatan Valley and Muna, northwest of the district headquarters. The coordinates of the epicentre are 28.48°N and 83.13°E.
Earlier in the afternoon, a light earthquake of local magnitude 4.6 had hit Bajura district of the far-western Nepal.
Meanwhile, the NSC records show that as many as 347 aftershocks (of local magnitude 4.0 or above) followed the ML 7.6 earthquake that struck Gorkha on April 25 till yesterday evening. No significant earthquake was recorded today.
The official death toll of the devastating earthquake, named Gorkha earthquake, and its aftershocks has reached 8897 till Tuesday afternoon.
