GAESO to wage battle for equality in UK

Pokhara, November 23:

Demanding pay, pension and facilities on a par with British counterparts, ex-Gorkha servicemen will launch a publicity campaign in the UK in January, Padam Bahadur Gurung, central president, Gorkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Organisation (GAESO), said at a press meet here today.

Seeking equal treatment in terms of pay, pension and other facilities, the GAESO has been battling with the British government in the British High Court for the past eight years.

Gurung said he will visit Britain in January and take with him the report of international enquiry committee on human rights. He said the report will be unveiled at the British House in January. The report will be made available to British prime minister, ministers, the House and other organisations, he said.

Cases of ex-Gorkha servicemen will be filed on individual basis, he said, adding that the GAESO will take them to the European Human Rights Court if justice is denied.
