Gandaki Province framing mass communications bill

KATHMANDU: Gandaki Province government has decided to frame a mass communications bill to make communications sector well-managed and dignified.

A meeting of the Province Council of Ministers held on Tuesday gave principle agreement to the proposal for structuring a draft bill, shared province government Spokesperson and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Ram Sharan Basnet.

It may be noted that the province government had decided to establish television and other media stations through its annual policy and programme for the current fiscal year.

Earlier, the province government had already endorsed mass communications policy.

Government is planning to introduce the bill to establishing media/communications institutions on its own, monitoring media houses and granting approval for the setup and operation of new media outlets in 11 districts of the province.
