Gaur farmers get diesel after five months
Rautahat, January 25
Gaur-based petrol pumps today distributed diesel to local farmers after five months in Rautahat.
Local farmers in Gaur and nearby areas were compelled to fetch diesel from India due to the blockade at entry points for the last five months.
Around 12,000 litres of diesel was dispatched to Gupta Petrol Pump, Asalam Oil Store and Tara Oil Store in Gaur. Local consumers and farmers had queued for fuel since yesterday morning.
“I received diesel after five months from a Nepali Pump,” said Meghu Sah, a local farmer.
Another farmer Nanipat Mahato claimed that the farmers had been compelled to purchase raw materials at a rate much higher than their market price due to the fuel crisis.
“We also had to buy fuel on the black market,” he said. Mahato added that the demonstrators had spilled the fuel they brought from India earlier.
Chief District Officer Narahari Baral of Rauthat said the fuel was yet to reach mid and southern parts of the district due to unfavourable situation.
He said the office had somehow managed to bring fuel to the district headquarters. He further informed that his office was preparing to make cooking gas available in Gaur.
