Gaur municipal CAO suspended for defying ministry’s directive

Rautahat, June 9

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has suspended Chief Administrative Officer Suman Kumar Karki of Gaur Municipality for defying the ministry’s directive to report to the place of his transfer repeatedly and staying put at the municipality.

The ministry had transferred Karki to Sailyasikhar Municipality, Darchula,  on May 15.

Karki, however, had defied the ministry’s order and stayed put at Gaur Municipality.

The ministry then sent an email to Gaur Municipality last Friday suspending Karki for two months.

The ministry appointed Saroj Kumar Lal Das as acting CAO of Gaur Municipality authorising him to undertake the municipality’s administrative and financial transactions and deployed him to the municipality on June 1.

The letter signed by MoFAGA Secretary Yadav Prasad Koirala directed Kakri to report to the place of his transfer within three days. Karki had been ignoring the directive.

Meanwhile, Gaur Mayor Ajay Kumar Gupta, however, said he had stopped Karki’s transfer as his transfer at the end of fiscal would affect the municipality’s activities.

“Staffers cannot be transferred at the end of the fiscal. Since Karki is busy preparing the municipality’s polices and programmes, the municipality halted his transfer for the time being,” said Mayor Gupta.

Gupta expressed ignorance about Karki’s suspension. “The municipality has not received information about Karki’s suspension,” he added.

Local youths had staged a rally in front of Gaur Municipality saying that a transferred staffer was continuing the municipality’s work unlawfully last Friday. They submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through the chief district officer.
