Give up old values: PM Oli tells secys

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today instructed the government secretaries to prepare a strategy on carrying out their duties as per new norms and values established by the new constitution within a month.

According to the Prime Minister’s press advisor Pramod Dahal, PM Oli told the government secretaries that the country cannot progress if the country’s bureaucracy clings on to old values and that  they should try their best to adapt to new values and norms set by the new statute.

The prime minister further assured secretaries that there would not be any political interference in bureaucracy and directed government employees not to be driven by greed and personal interests while carrying out their duties.

The Prime Minister also directed the government secretaries to explore alternatives to ensure smooth supply of fuel and other essentials. According to Dahal, PM Oli also told the secretaries to promote modernisation and commercialisation of agriculture and to complete the Mid-Hill Highway project as soon as possible.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa today briefed the Cabinet on his meetings with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and other leaders, including External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
