Government compelled us to protest: NC Prez Deuba

CHITWAN: President of the main opposition Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba remarked that the government drove his party into launching a protest referring to NC’s recent and planned demonstrations.

Addressing the 10th National Convention of Democratic Lawyer’s Association in Chitwan today, Deuba said that the undemocratic acts by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli led government drove NC to protest while urging the government to follow democratic norms.

Opining that the country is witnessing an indirect offence against democratic norms, beliefs and judicial state, Deuba requested the law practitioners to stay alert on the matter.

“We have to stop undue interference in judicial bodies,” NC Prez said, “ I have asked the Prime Minister whether he wants to move along or in a confrontation.”

Moreover, Deuba admitted that NC has lost its strength saying that the two-party-model in operation inside NC has made the party weak.
