KATHMANDU: Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Spokesperson of government Gokul Prasad Baskota on Thursday informed of government decision to allow Netra Bikram Chand led communist party to surrender its weapon within 35 days.

Stating that the government was ready for discussion, Minister Baskota clarified that the government has given the ultimatum after Chand-led party turned deaf ears to government’s repeated call for a dialogue.

“The Biplav-led group has time and again ignored government’s call for dialogue leading to an all-out ban on the outfit and its activities,” said the Minister.

Meanwhile, the party enforced a nation-wide shutdown today.

Responding to the query relating to the 11-point agreement with CK Raut’s Alliance for Independent Madhesh, Minister Banskota clarified that the word ‘employing the method of popular mandate’ meant that the public would be allowed to vote on their choices through an election.
