Govt invites special rapporteurs
Kathmandu, September 10
The government has invited Special Rapporteur on Right to Food and Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women for a country visit to Nepal at a convenient time.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. The MoFA said that the government invited the special rapporteurs continuing the tradition of its steadfast cooperation with the Special Procedures mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council for a country visit.
It also said the invitation for visit would be conveyed through Nepal’s permanent mission to the UN in Geneva tomorrow.
“The Government of Nepal has also reiterated the invitation, which was extended in 2014 and later reiterated in July this year, to the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights of Migrants,” the MoFA said.
