Government making mockery of people’s choice: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said Sunday that attempts were being made to make a mockery of the results of Constituent Assembly election.

“Attempts are on to crush the people’s vote and the peace

accord,” Prachanda said,

addressing a function organised to welcome six leaders

of other parties to his party.

He said the President himself had started taking unconstitutional decision.

The UCPN-M boss also claimed that the process of centralisation of revolutionary forces had already been initiated. “Debates have already been raised within the ranks and files of the CPN-UML,” he claimed, adding that revolutionaries would ultimately go for

civilian supremacy, lasting peace and people’s constitution. Prachanda also said more leaders from other political parties would enter his party within a week or two.

Terming the new government as puppet, he said the parties had knelt before the army chief and were heading towards the path of disaster.During the function, Prachanda welcomed six UML cadres, including JB Tuhure, an elected member of central discipline commission of CPN-UML.

Prachanda also took the opportunity to praise Tuhure. “Tuhure is the history of revolutionary political movement,” he said, adding that Tuhure’s entry in the party would help intensify cultural movement in the country. Along with Tuhure, filmmaker Hari Shivakoti, outgoing Rupandehi secretary of Press Chautari Krishna Prasad Bhandary, lecturer Bishnu Gyawali, central committee member All Nepal Women’s Association Chanda Thani and Sagar Uprety entered the UCPN-Maoist on Sunday. All of them were closed to the UML.

Speaking on the occasion, Tuhure slammed the UML of disregarding the people’s aspirations for the sake of power. “The UML stood in support of army general and military supremacy. It was a regressive act,” he said. He also accused the UML of kneeling before national and international reactionary forces for power.

UCPN-Maoist’s secretariat member Mohan Baidhya ‘Kiran’ said the entry of leaders from other political parties had proved that people won’t support opportunist party.
