Govt must take opposition into confidence: Paudel

Chitwan, December 15

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel has rued the present political deadlock over the constitution amendment bill, blaming it on the haste to register the bill without proper homework.

“As the bill was registered in haste without holding dialogue with other stakeholders, the same has caused the present scene,” said the NC leader at a press conference organised by Nepal Press Union Chitwan chapter in Bharatpur Airport today.

Expressing firm conviction on the need for unity among the major political parties to resolve the major issues of the nation, Paudel said, “In fact, I’m very firm in my belief that we can’t move ahead by ignoring the main opposition, there is no way other than taking the party into confidence in matters of statute amendment too.”

Paudel informed about the ongoing discussion over whether elections could be held as per the erstwhile structure.
