Govt to accept grant, loan from ADB

Kathmandu, July 16

The government has decided to receive USD 163.9 million in loans and grants for disaster resilience for its school project from Asian Development Bank.

The government has given authority to form a talks team to the finance ministry. According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota, the projects will be implemented in the 14 earthquake hit districts to build earthquake resilient school building.

The government has changed various rural municipalities’ centres. The Machhi Khola will be the new centre of Dharche Rural Municipality in Gorkha district and Patichaur will be the new centre of Modi Rural Municipality in Parbat district.

The Hariharpur Virta will be the new centre of  Kalikachaur Rural Municipality and Prasaunimatha will be the new centre of Bindabasinie Rural Municipality in Parsa district. Mahadevbesi will be the new centrer of Thakre Rural Municipality in Dhading district and Ratamata will be the new centre of Lekam Rural Municipality in Darchula district.

As per the government decision, Janakpurdham sub-metropolis will be the new name of Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City. “We have taken these decisions as per the constitutional provision” government spokesperson Baskota said. According to him, the government also endorsed various federal and provincial ministries organisational structure reshuffle proposal. The government has arranged for the Youth Council to work in coordination with district coordination committees.

The government has decided to give theoretical acceptance to issue the e-passport and the passport related bill will be presented in the federal Parliament which will aim to integrate services to passport seekers. The government also decided to accept the draft the bill related to mass communications.

Kishwor Silwal, a justice of the High Court was appointed Chairman of the Revenue Tribunal Kathmandu office.
