Government vehicle torched

Kathmandu, May 17:

Maoist victims, who had called a Valley bandh today, torched a vehicle belonging to the District Forest Office of Bhaktapur at Baneswor.

The Maoist victims, who have been living in makeshift tents at a public land at Tinkune, have been organising various protest programmes to draw the government’s attention to their plight.

Police today detained some 17 activists, including the coordinator Bhoj Raj Timalsina and joint coordinator Kalyan Budhathoki. “All other activists except Timalsina and Budhathoki have been released,” a officer at the Metropolitan Police Circle, New Baneswor, said.
