Govt not keen to resolve Tarai crisis, says Deuba
Janakpurdham, January 28:
Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said the NC was serious to settle the
Madhes issues.
Speaking at a press conference organised today by the Dhanusha chapter of Nepal Press Union in Janakpur, Deuba said, “The NC is serious and active to resolve the issues of the Madhesi people and their desire for peace against the ongoing violence and murder.”
The government failed to free people from fear and terror, he said.
“The Maoists are trying to impose dictatorship at a time of transitional phase in the country by frequently attacking media and journalists. Now the future of democracy is at stake and right to life is under threat.”
Deuba said, “It’s good to hold talks with the armed groups in view of solving Tarai problems but the government is just play acting, which will lead to its fall.” NC general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi also attended the conference.
Earlier, the NC leaders, including Deuba, expressed anger over the manager
of Nepal Rastra Bank Jhalak Prasad Acharya for not providing its hall to organise the programme. Dhanusha Chief District Officer Shambhu Koirala asked Acharya for clarification.
