‘Govt repressing peaceful movement’

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal on Tuesday issued a press release accusing the government of repressing its peaceful movement in various districts.

The party said police had beaten its cadres who took part in protest programmes in Mahottari, Dhanusha and Rautahat districts.

The RJP-N said police had detained more than 150 protesters in various places of  Saptari and more than a dozen protesters were injured when police used  force against them.

The party urged the government to address people’s  demands.

“The government will be responsible if people retaliate against repression,” the party stated in its release. The RJP-N has  announced protests programmes against the second phase of local polls.
