Govt yet to submit scribe dole details

Kathmandu, August 16:

The Ministry of Home Affairs is yet to submit to the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) the details of cash distributed to journalists by the Ministry during the King’s direct rule.

A week-long deadline given to the Ministry to submit the details ended on Monday.

“We had asked the Ministry to submit the details within a week. It has, however, not done so even after the deadline has already ended,” PAC chairman Chitra Bahadur KC told The Himalayan Times today.

He added that the committee would ask for the details again and investigate the matter.

“As we feel that this is a serious issue, the Ministry cannot evade our investigation. It is the duty of the Ministry to give us the details as we had directed it to do so,” he said.

“We have already gathered information from the other ministries on the issue and initiated action against the accused,” he added.

The PAC had directed the Ministry to submit the details on August 8. “We will not give up the issue as the people have been questioning why the amount was distributed and for what,” KC said.
